2009 Vesak at Samadhi

Celebrating the day of enlightenment at Samadhi.

It was a joyful, peaceful and spiritually uplifting day for the participants of the Vesak celebration at the Samadhi Center on the 9th of May 2009.

Vesak is the most auspicious day on the Buddhist calendar. On this special day we celebrate the birth, enlightenment and passing of the Buddha.

Joining the celebration with all Buddhist from around the world, Venerable Bhante Wimala, founder and Spiritual Director of Samadhi, led the program at Samadhi Buddhist Meditation Center.

The full day program included; meditation class, Dhamma talk, Buddha puja, storytelling and the blessing ceremony.

At 8 p.m. hundreds of candles and Vesak lanterns surrounding the Samadhi grounds and temple were lit.

Many participants stayed late in the night to take in the beautiful site as the flames of the candle light flickered through the darkness lighting the grounds of Samadhi.

The glow of the full moon was blessing us from above.

It was truly, a joyful, peaceful and spiritually inspiring day for all participants followed by a day of silence at the Center on May 10th.
