Triple Gem Village
|
Triple Gem Village is
a brand new village built for tsunami survivors
who lost their homes. The whole project
is sponsored by the Triple Gem Society of
Princeton, New Jersey and consists of 50
new homes. 35 of the homes were completed
before the dedication ceremony on the 26th
of September, 2005. |
|
35 of the 50
proposed homes were completed before
the opening ceremony. New roads
were built and needed to be paved.
It took only 3 and 1/2 months to
complete the 35 new homes. Many
engineers and contractors were involved. |
Families were
carefully chosen. After being homeless
for 9 months they received the keys
from Bhante Wimala for their new
homes. |
In the middle
of the Triple Gem Village, land
has been prepared to build a community
hall. We are expecting to plant
trees and do the landscaping soon. |
Every home was
blessed by Bhante Wimala and other
Buddhist monks before the families
moved in. |
