Teaching and Humanitarian Projects in Kenya

From October 26th through November 1st Bhante traveled to Kenya and visited the Nairobi Buddhist Temple. Bhante Wimala has been the spiritual director and head monk of this Buddhist Center for many years, offering teaching and leading spiritual programs several times a year.

While in Kenya, Bhante also dedicated his attention to several ongoing humanitarian projects and participated in the Kathina Ceremony. This ceremony is typically held once a year to mark the end of the retreat period for Theravada Buddhist monks.

During this visit Bhante also had several meetings with the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Nairobi, as well as board members, devotees, and friends of the Buddhist Temple. The community was able to benefit from a special spiritual program on October 31st and November 1st. The program included a Dhamma talk and guided meditation from Bhante which was received with gratitude and joy.
